It’s nearly the longest day of the year ,this Sunday 21st is when the sun reaches its furthest northern point and giving hot conditions over the continent, but despite the land of the midnight sun with little or no darkness over Greenland and the Artic , Greenland retains its cold with temperatures getting below minus 20°c/-4°f during the Artic sunlit night in the interior of Greenland. This is the potentially warmest part of the year for this area of the Earth, best of luck

It seems a long time ago now since we had some warmth, but changes ahead at the end of the week with perhaps a more seasonal feel by then .! Before then a lot of unseasonably cool wet weather at times and windy at times as well making it feel more like Autumn than Summer! But by the end of the week we could well see a transition as the photo below shows ! Ian🌻

We move into the first of the Summer months and after the recent heat , we will feel we are going back to April like weather with showers and spells of rain at times but also some strong June Sunshine so good news for gardeners and growers alike with some useful rain for all but will be cool overnight as well. Beyond this week, it stays changeable, but with a good deal of summer sunshine, along with some thunderstorms.

Because the Uk is in for some warmth first time in 9 months the media are once bleating about climate change!

Significant changes through into next week for many as a plume of warmth moves up from North Africa as the winds switch round from the Artic North to a toasty Southerly wind. But for now the Uk is stuck mainly in Artic air , so much the same weather over the next couple of days but with big changes next week!

Looks like the weather will be if nothing else interesting this coming week allbeit rather cold out of the sunshine and even some frost overnight up and down the Uk as Artic air seeps southwards and the photo above sums it just about perfect! Perfect conditions this week for thunderstorms as the very cold artic air in situ with strong sunshine builds some beautiful skyscapes into Cumulonimbus clouds. Even snow on Northern Hills. Enjoy the weather, you can’t take it with you!
